A little snow was here and there...

Okay, so it's not exactly the blizzard that those of you around DC are experiencing, but just thought I'd commiserate with all of you who are currently knee-deep in the white stuff.

If it's snowing here on the Med, then it damn well better be snowing everywhere else!

You know what's funny? I must have talked to about 5 or 6 people today about the snow/weather today and when I would say, "I'm Californian.... " they would respond with "Oh yeh... it's really snowing hard chez vous... (Washington) and I'd give them a little history lesson about the two opposing costs and how I lived close to the Mexican border... It was fun... Talking to total strangers everywhere in town.. Everyone was so chipper and friendly!
I can't wait for it all to M-E-L-T!! It's hard for me to walk in...

Leesa, After living in England and now France, I know that American geography is not really common knowledge! (but then again, why should it be, right? I'm not that up on Chinese or Indian geography either!lol)
Loads of people don't realize that Washington State and DC are two different places!
I lived in northern California for awhile, and people just assume that it's as hot there as in the south, which it's not!

It is snowing everywhere else! We got about 10-12 inches in Chicago, but we're used to it. That's the nice thing--cleanup and clearing is generally fast and efficient.

Hi FS-
yes, that's the difference, you guys are equipped for it! Here, a little bit of snow and everyone freaks out, especially the drivers. Better just to stay off the roads down here when there is snow!lol

I like the snow, but I like the snow in that picture more than ours because I wouldn't have to shovel and shovel and shovel.

The Duchess said...

Hi Randal, Yes, I suppose that is the advantage of just a light dusting!lol But it's cold enough here at the moment to have 30-inches!

He he, had to laugh at your last sentence. The amount of snow we got was insane by local standards, but nohing compared to the Snowpocalypse of the Washigton DC area...Certainly builds bonds between neighbors.

And here in Montpellier, it's really, really cold (about -3°C NOT COUNTING THE WIND CHILL) but still not the slightest hint of a snowflake... The girls are bitterly disappointed (though I did warn them it wasn't very likely here)!

Hi Tammy, I bet you got alot more snow then we did! But I'm sure you are more equipped for it where you are. Hope you are managing to stay warm!

Hi Magic,
Are you getting the wind in Montpellier? That's what is making it so bloody cold here.

Here in Carcassonne we have a thick blanket of the stuff this morning, I guess you have too !! Feels more like Siberia than the South of France.

Hi Sally,
Funny, today, no snow, just very cold. The sun is out, maybe that's why? Hope it isn't too chaotic on the roads for you!

We woke up to about 6 inches here in Corsica - literally in the Med, which we are only a 5 minute drive away from. So strange to see snow on the beach! And our village school was closed which I don't get as most people walk to school anyway, teachers included.

Hi Cara,
Wow, it really is snowing everywhere! I could imagine maybe up in high mountains, but not 5 mins from the beach. I guess they have to have a version of a 'snow day' too!lol

That looks like the perfect amount of snow, just a light coating like a sprinkle of sugar on a chocolate cake.

:)

Hi Cheryl,
Yes, but you can't make a snowman in it. But careful what you wish for, right?

We had snow on the mountains near us. I can see it from where I live. I try and tell myself that because I can see it that it is snowing here. I can't convince myself.;-) Enjoy your blanket of white!

Hi LBR- Nice to 'see' you again! If it's snowing here, then it should be snowing in LA! I guess just being able to see it from a distance might count...
