The garden shed...

Our once cobweb-ridden garden cabanon has had a make-over. Its new use is, officially, my writing room, but unofficially, the place I go to hid from the little ladies. My most important condition on its remodel was that it could lock from the inside.

I don't have any before photos to show you, but I can tell you it was pretty shed-like, concrete floor, crumbly walls, no window, spiders everywhere, and full of garden furniture (who knew we had so many chairs?).

When asked what I wanted for my birthday, this was my answer. And the Duke obliged, doing it all himself. (Hmmm, come to think of it, maybe he really wanted a room that he could lock me in, too...).

Lovely room, I could while away many hours there, I particularly liked the fact there is room for the dog as well :)

Oh, what a lovely little hideaway! So inspiring! I recently was wishing I could have "my own room" too! I can just imagine all the wonderful writing that could come out of that room! Thank you too for the well wishes on the birth of our son! When we got the post my husband said "you know a duchess!" Ha Ha! I said well as a matter of fact I do!!

I have a room of my own as well. Well, sort of. It's in the courtyard, formerly where the rabbits were kept; I've turned it into a studio with skylights, quite cosy, if I say so myself. Only problem is, I have yet to use it: the new wooden door swelled to unbelievable proportions in the rains of last autumn, such that it became a bit more impregnable than I had in mind.

I mean, no one can get in, including yours truly. Must wait for a drier season...So please enjoy yours on behalf of those of us who have yet to get into their own private spaces.

I'm loving the new space and most importantly, the locking door. Hit my head pretty hard on one of those metal rods poking out of the wall though, which hurt like hell!

Tammy- hope you get to use your space soon!
