And the winner is...

Mikels Rea, 25 year-old from Paris, has been voted the winner of the 8th series of Star Academy, which, in case you didn't know, is like the French equivalent of American Idol or The X Factor. The French version is a little bit more of a cross between a singing show and a reality show though, showing the contestants at rehearsals and behind the scenes, with all the coupling up, fighting and minute dramas.

I missed the finale and my father in law's computer doesn't have any speakers, so couldn't even watch it online. Nevermind, I'm sure I'll get over it. I have been watching some good movies though, as he has all the movie channels.

Anyway, here's the winner, singing with Rihanna in the final. You'll have to tell me if the song was any good or not!

I thought that "Nouvelle Star" (starting in February on M6) was like American Idol...
Apparently, this season of Star Academy wasn't a successful one according to the poor audience they have had!

Isabelle, you are right, Nouvelle Star is more like American Idol, Star Academy is more of a reality show than Idol. There was a show in the UK called Fame Academy, but it only lasted one series. Maybe the reality format isn't as popular?
There are so many of these shows now, they've probably lost their novelty factor!

I don't watch American Idol. But, I imagine if I could get a French reality show on American TV I would definitely watch it.

not bad at all. However I'm totally partial to Rihanna ...I adore her. He did brilliantly!
