September in the south...

Back to business as usual around here. The little ladies are glad to be back at school and work is moving into the busy period, which is good all around.

I've got the walking English megaphone visiting this week, and two of my colleagues are away, so I'm working 6 days (purely a coincidence, I swear!).

The wine harvest is in full swing and the weather is cooperating. September is such a beautiful time of year here. The leaves on the vines haven't started to change color yet, but in a couple of weeks we will be surrounded by the hues of Autumn. This is so my favorite time of year here in the south of France, and for any of you planning a trip to France, I would definitely recommend September and October as the best months to see this area!

Hello! You're so lucky to live in that part of the world. It has the gentle climate of the South of France but is so much more peaceful than the "cote". I've spent 3 September gite holidays near there: in Bessan, Canet and Cabrieres and they were so relaxing and memorable. Love the little village of Octon. The lovely Herault river is wonderful for walks and the fields that border it are full of pomegranates and wild geraniums. And nothing makes you slow down so much as being stuck behind a harvester during the vendange! Sante!

September is one of my favorite months anywhere in France. We are having a lovely "arrière saison" here in the Loiret too.

Glad to hear it, Dedene. I'm just hoping we won't have to pay later with an extremely cold winter!

oh and good luck with Mr. In-law. i'm married to a brit too. it's not always so straightforward all this cross cultural stuff is it? it wasn't till my father-in-law actually passed away that we got "mum" to france. up to that point i think their attitude towards france was that there were "too many foreigners" there!

Great to have you back! We have just had two weeks of beach ourselves, though not all the sunny kind you enjoy. Autumn with all its new routines starts tomorrow...
love to all

Good to have you back! When the megaphone gets to the south of France he is almost inaudible in the south-east of England. Your ladies are back at school-- our second little lady is hiding in her mum's tummy & is 3 days overdue. Allez! xx

A hearty welcome back, even if you brought autumn back with you...

(Someone's got to be grouchy: I love fall, I just handle the diminishing daylight rather poorly.)
