bowling and castanets....

Two questions on my mind as I leave the house for work this morning:

1. Why do my children insist on calling the game with a ball and 10 pins 'skittles' when they know damn well it's called 'bowling'?

2. Can a skinny white girl from South Dakota every really learn to use castanets properly?
